SCHOOL NEWS

Notes from Mrs. Jackson
Another four day week – oh my!  Students made the most of their learning this week and I was especially impressed with student writing work in kindergarten.  We are looking forward to taking our Kindness Pledge as we begin Kindness Week next Monday.  Don’t forget there is an early dismissal on Thursday for professional development.

HEALTH ALERT:
We continue to share with you that flu season this year is particularly dangerous, and we want to take every precaution to keep our staff and children safe.  Please see the attached document from the Health Office for information about the flu. The district posted a link to the Fairfield Health Department on the district Facebook page regarding flu shots that are still available.  Please help us at school by remembering to keep children home when they are not feeling well.  Hopefully, flu season will pass quickly and will be uneventful for our NSS community.

You still have time to order your NSS Yearbook! Don’t miss out on all the great memories that were made this year!  For families that are new to NSS, our yearbook is very high quality, printed in color, and we make sure that every child is featured at least three times in the book. Yearbooks are $29.00 and the deadline to order is February 16.  We will not be taking orders after the deadline.  Follow this link and order online today.  Please contact Jeanne Baranosky jb6901@optonline.net or Stephanie Stellato sdelaney24@yahoo.com with any questions.

Walk-A-Thon Sponsors Needed
NSS is actively looking for sponsors for the NSS Walk-A-Thon in May!

The Walk-A-Thon is the BIGGEST fundraiser of the year and we need YOUR help to make it a success. All proceeds go directly to the NSS PTA to support the wonderful things we do for our kids at NSS. If you know a local business who would like to sponsor the Walk-A-Thon, please reach out to the Walk-A-Thon committee at nsswalkathon@gmail.com. This is a fantastic opportunity to advertise your business. The banner will hang at the school until next year’s Walk-A-Thon. We also welcome all of our generous sponsors who supported us last year to come back! Sponsor form is attached.

If you would like to work with the committee to help get local sponsors, we can use your help as well. Please contact Nicole Farrell directly at nfarrell829@gmail.com. If every parent at NSS approaches one business about sponsoring this event, we can make this a huge success!

Third prize is a Double Scoop Sundae, one per week for March and April, 2nd prize is a FREE tub of your favorite ice cream and 1st prize is a FREE Kitchen Sink Sundae.

When you go down to Saugatuck Sweets, be sure to pre-purchase tickets for Skating on the Sherman Green II for only $12 which includes skate rentals! The dates of the event are February 23 -25! There will be hot chocolate, food trucks, music, family fun activities and of course, ice skating! Tickets purchased that day are $15. Proceeds from this event will benefit Livfree and Al’s Angels.

Al’s Angels is a 501C3 non-profit organization founded by Al DiGuido ; a resident of Westport and owner of Saugatuck Sweets in Fairfield and Westport. The organization has provided holiday meals & gifts to children and families battling cancer, rare blood disease and severe financial hardship since its inception.  Just last year, Al’s Angels provided over 3200 families with their Thanksgiving, Christmas & Hanukkah meals and over 15,000 children with their holiday gifts. 100% of all donations provided to the organization go directly to helping children and families in desperate need in Fairfield County and beyond.
