Notes from Mrs. Jackson
It was a busy and exciting week at NSS! MANY thanks to the wonderful parents and PTA leaders for providing our staff with a delicious and creative Teacher Appreciation Week. The treats were wonderful and a great bonus since sharing your children with us is always a gift. We enjoyed meeting new and returning families during Wednesday’s Incoming Kindergarten Visitation as we welcomed them to our NSS school community. The Plant Sale was also a huge success. We wish all of our moms a great Mother’s Day this weekend. We are looking forward to next week’s Walk-a-Thon.

PTA NEWS

And a big, big thanks to…
Amy Boland, Dan Kurzatkowski, Brian Carroll, and their many amazing volunteers for putting on a beautiful and fun plant sale.

Diana Carafotes, Kylie Palladino for organizing and running Teacher Appreciation Week! Thanks to all the families who donated food this year. We were able to treat the teachers to such a delicious and heartfelt Teacher Appreciation Week.

NSS Plant Sale a Massive Success!!!
Thanks to our school of gardeners, we sold just about all of the plants this year!  A great big thanks goes out to our NSS custodial crew who helped with set up, break down, and answered numerous questions throughout the week. Another thanks to our always fabulous office staff for providing us with the class visit schedule and buzzing us in numerous times. Thanks to Harvest New England who donated all the soil required to make the planters so pretty. Last, but certainly not least, thank you to all the parent volunteers who helped make the plant sale what it was and made the sale flow with ease. Happy Gardening and see you next year!

The Walk-A-Thon is approaching!
With the Walk-A-Thon less than two weeks away, we would like to send a few reminders:

• Please keep the student pledges coming (pledge form attached)! Thank you to all the families who have pledged thus far and to all our NSS sponsors, we have more sponsors this year then we have ever had!
• New this year we will be giving out t-shirts to all walkers. The t-shirts will be given out the day before the Walk-A-Thon so students may come to school the day of wearing the shirts.

Also…the Walk-A-Thon is becoming so big that the committee is in need of more volunteers for next year. Please email the committee at northstratfieldwalkathon@gmail.com for more info.

NSS Student Art Show
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!!
If you can spare an hour or two helping Mrs. Mansi set up the annual Art Show, we’ll be hanging the artwork & putting up the decorations on Wednesday, 5/30 & Thursday, 5/31.  Please email Bonnie Liang at sibonliang@outlook.com or call 203-870-0982 with any questions & to volunteer!

Supply Kits Available Now
NSS PTA is making Back-to-School Shopping EASY!!!  Skip the long lines this summer and order your pre-assembled supply kit. The kits include the exact products and quantities teachers are requesting and come in a personalized box ready for your child’s first day of school. Best of all, by participating in this program you also help raise funds for the many programs our PTA has planned for our little ones. Simply place your order online at www.shopttkits.com.  Enter our school’s account number 83268, select the grade your child will be going into next year, and pay with a major credit card. It’s that simple! We will also be accepting paper orders, but we recommend ordering online.  Look out for the order forms that will be sent via backpack mail next week.

Calling all 5th Grade Families!
Let’s celebrate the success and achievements of the Class of 2018 with a Moving Up Family-Style Dinner!  The celebration will commence at Testos in Bridgeport immediately following the Moving Up Ceremony on Monday, June 11th from 6:30PM – 9:30PM.  All family members and friends are invited to attend, $23/person.  Deadline for sign-ups and payment is June 1st.  For more information and to RSVP to the celebration, please click this link.

If a change of plan pad is needed, please send in $3 cash or check payable to NSS PTA, with your child’s name and class. Please allow up to a week to receive a new pad. Thank you!

Friday Flash Info
If you have a submission for the Friday Flash, send it to info@nsspta.org no later than 11:00 AM on Thursday.  Please include any attachments as well. When we have a short week, the Flash will go out on the last school day of that week. The deadline for submissions will then be 11:00 AM on the previous day. Also, when sending an email for the Flash, please include no extra formatting, i.e., bold, caps, shading, etc.  For any “community” or non-PTA flyers, please utilize the district’s new system – Peachjar. Peachjar is a website where you can find out about community events and post your own flyers for others to see.
