SCHOOL NEWS

Notes from Mrs. Jackson
The children came back to school after their Thanksgiving weekend ready to get back to work.  I spent time in first grade this week and was very impressed with the discussions I saw regarding finding new and interesting facts in non-fiction books the students are reading.  I also had the opportunity to visit all third grade classes and loved seeing students so engaged in math and social studies.  Many thanks for helping us minimize calls home for dismissal plans – it has really helped students focus on learning in the mornings.

PTA NEWS

And a big, BIG thanks to…
Brigid Holms and Allyson Schenker for coordinating our monthly Retail Fundraisers.  Be sure to be on the lookout for details on the December event at The Mason Jar.

Fairfield Strategic Planning Committee Workshop
The Fairfield Strategic Planning Committee (SPC) will be hosting an informal workshop to help parents better understand how the town strategic plan will ultimately impact our schools, safety regarding our kids crossing the Post Road or other busy roads to attend their schools, the town’s commitment to education, and aging school facilities. To help ensure that our voices are heard, the SPC is conducting an informal workshop specifically for the NSS Community on Monday, December 3rd from 7:30-8:30 in the APR.  This is an excellent opportunity for you to provide direct input and help shape the future of our town.  If you would like to participate, please RSVP to Kelly Imschweiler no later than Friday, November 30th (that’s today!).

Change of Plan Pads
If a change of plan pad is needed, please send in $3 cash or check payable to NSS PTA. Please indicate your child’s name and class so we know who to deliver it to. Please allow up to a week to receive a new pad. Thank you!

NSS Flash Info
If you have a submission for the NSS Friday Flash, send it to info@nsspta.org no later than 1:00pm on Wednesdays. Please include the text of your blurb (plain text, no special formatting) and any attachments in PDF format. When we have a short week, the Flash will go out on the last school day of that week. The deadline for submissions will then be 1:00pm on the previous day. For any “community” or non-PTA flyers, please utilize the district’s new system – Peachjar. Peachjar is a website where you can find out about community events and post your own flyers for others to see.
