A Note from Mrs. Jackson
Happy New Year! It is great having our students back at NSS after a long winter vacation. We are looking forward to all the great learning activities planned for 2019. I spent time in all lunch shifts this week and really enjoyed hearing about the great times our students had last week with their families. Don’t forget to keep an eye on the weather and make sure your children come to school with hats and gloves so they can enjoy time outside at recess.

Jump Rope for Heart
Hello Families! Our school is proud to partner with the American Heart Association with the Kids Heart Challenge. Over the next few weeks, our students will be having fun learning about their heart & practicing their jump rope skills with the Heart Heroes while raising money to help fund lifesaving research.   Students can earn their own Heart Hero Characters this year by using the new mobile app (download the Kids Heart Challenge app) or by visiting to sign up and raise money online! Just for signing up to save lives, your students will earn a glow in the dark wristband! PLUS this year, the mobile app unlocks even more fun.  The Heart Heroes and wristband come to life! All donations are due on February 8th and our event day(s) are January 28th-February 1st. Thank you for helping a great cause!
Attached is the class schedule for the JRFH event. You will find the date and time that your child/children will be participating in their Jump Rope for Heart event.
Thank you for all your support. Kim Rasmussen (NSS Physical Education Teacher)

And a BIG  to…
HANNAH CHOI for all her hard work on the Friday Flash!  We appreciate you keeping us all in the know.

Walk-a-Thon Co-Chair & Committee Members Needed
The Walk-a-Thon is one of our most exciting fundraisers of the year and is right around the corner!
The WAT Committee is looking to expand!  We are seeking a new co-chair and folks to be part of the committee. The WAT occurs in May and is one of the largest fundraisers for NSS and such a wonderful experience to be part of. It’s an opportunity to to get involved with other NSS families and most importantly have fun! There is something for every level of time commitment – all helping hands are welcome.
If you are interested in joining us or for questions in general please reach out to Kelly Takacs and Gillian Mongirdas at Thank you!

Change of Plan Pads
If a change of plan pad is needed, please send in $3 cash or check payable to NSS PTA. Please indicate your child’s name and class so we know who to deliver it to. Please allow up to a week to receive a new pad. Thank you!
