2018-19 Elementary 6-Day Rotation
Week: March 11, 2019
Monday-A, Tuesday-B, Wednesday-C, Thursday-D, Friday-E

It was a great week and I know our students enjoyed having a snow day with time to play in the snow on Monday. I spent time in fifth grade math class this week and was very impressed with the fine math skills I saw as students worked together to solve problems that related to real situations. Don’t forget that Tuesday is an early release day – teachers are looking forward to having this opportunity to work together as they look at student work and plan instruction. We are all looking forward to Thursday’s STEAM Night and hope to see many of you there!

Our Board of Education has a lot of things coming to view this year from the future of our Early Childhood Center (public preschool program) which could effect current and future changes to all our facilities, possible redistricting, state legislation and how all these things intersect. I highly recommend taking the time to stay involved and engaged with the board, they are very thoughtful and receptive. There will be a town hall style Board of Education meeting on April 30th, it is vital that they hear from the public, especially right now. I have included the link to the most recent Board of Education meeting below and as always can help answer or point anyone in the right direction if they have questions.

Your family has the opportunity to donate and dedicate a book to the NSS Library in honor of your child, a special teacher or staff member. Simply pick out your title of choice from the list on the page 2 of the form and submit the form for title approval, purchase the book and send it in with your child. The library will place a dedication plate and schedule a photo-op with your child. The book becomes a treasure for all NSS students.
Contact Jen Giudice at with any questions.

It’s time to break out your bowling shoes! Mother & Son Bowling Night is back! Show off your skills and play with (or against) each other! Flyers will be coming home soon in backpack mail, or you can print the attached. This event sold out quickly last year as Nutmeg Bowl only allows 6 bowlers per lane. A week before the event, we’ll send out a link to everyone who’s registered and paid to pick those lucky lanes!  And of course, if Mom can’t make it, bring an aunt, grandma, or another special bowler!  It’s going to be a blast!

Calling all 5th grade parents! We’re looking for 8-10 parent volunteers to help with Diversity Day on Friday, April 5th from 9-11am. The goal of Diversity Day is to promote empathy and acceptance of the differences that individuals with disabilities encounter every day as well as teach us about diversity within ourselves and our society. The program is held in the gym where each of the 5th grade classes will rotate through five hands-on learning stations: Motor Skills/Speech and Language, Food Allergies, Learning Differences, Visual Impairment and a Multi-Cultural station exploring our own diversity.
Please email Carolyn Wasserlauf at if you are able to help out on this fun and educational day! Thank you!
