Due to popular demand, both the American Ninja Warrior (Tuesday) and Project Adventure (Thursday) classes have filled. You should have received an email from me if your child was enrolled in the class prior to it filling! Since there is still a week before enrollment is closed, I will be opening up a second PROJECT ADVENTURE CLASS ON WEDNESDAY MORNINGS FOR GRADES K-5. The enrollment will be open until MARCH 22, 2019. If you would like to enroll your child in Project adventure, please fill out the registration form and send it in to the office. Spots are filled on a first come, first serve basis – so don’t delay!!!!

Our Board of Education has a lot of things coming to view this year from the future of our Early Childhood Center (public preschool program) which could effect current and future changes to all our facilities, possible redistricting, state legislation and how all these things intersect. I highly recommend taking the time to stay involved and engaged with the board, they are very thoughtful and receptive. There will be a town hall style Board of Education meeting on April 30th, it is vital that they hear from the public, especially right now. I have included the link to the most recent Board of Education meeting below and as always can help answer or point anyone in the right direction if they have questions.

Your family has the opportunity to donate and dedicate a book to the NSS Library in honor of your child, a special teacher or staff member. Simply pick out your title of choice from the list on the page 2 of the form and submit the form for title approval, purchase the book and send it in with your child. The library will place a dedication plate and schedule a photo-op with your child. The book becomes a treasure for all NSS students.
Contact Jen Giudice at with any questions.

Due to low attendance we are canceling the Spring Fling for this Saturday (3/16). If you have already paid committee heads will be in touch about returning funds. But don’t despair our Golf Outing is coming up May 10th. Details coming soon so be sure to join us then for some fun!

To all the volunteers that made the Book Swap a success! Thank you to Kelly Tuller, Lee Siegal, Stephanie Schacher, Tracy Palmer and Annie Ringelheim for helping to collect and sort over 1,500 books! Also a big thanks to Megan Armitage, LeeAnn Weaver, Belinda Papageorge, Meghan Hathaway and Hannah Choi for all your help setting up and helping out at the event!!Deb Venech and Jodie Ortega for organizing another fun Sweetheart Dance.  The ladies and their special guests truly enjoyed dancing the night away!

We are in desperate need of volunteers for the 5th grade River-Lab field trip. This is a perfect opportunity to attend a field trip and spend a few hours with your child, learning about our environment in Fairfield.
River-Lab is a unique program because it is an important part of the required science curriculum and requires your participation for it to be successful. Fairfield students consistently show a mastery of science that exceeds the state and national averages thanks in part to the participation of our parents.
The 5th grade River-Lab experience includes both a trip to the river and a class room lab where students observe live plankton under the microscope. It is an incredible and trans-formative experience for many students and one of the few remaining opportunities you will ever have to join them in the classroom.Thursday 4/25 for Dushok and Gillen & Friday 4/26 for Wendin and Furey

Please email me ASAP if you can participate.
Thank you! Andrea Ward

Please join us for a friendly cooking competition at Cinch on Thursday, March 28th at 7:00pm!

Please see the flyer for additional details! We look forward to seeing you there!

Sunday, March 31st from 4pm- 8pm
Urban Air Trampoline Park, Orange, CT
Gather up the entire family, unplug, get active, and have fun with NSS friends and families at our annual Family Fun Night!  20% of all proceeds benefit our school! This event is inclusive to all family members from toddlers-adults. Don’t forget those older siblings! Food and Drink available to purchase that evening. Check out the flier for more details.

Calling all 5th grade parents! We’re looking for 8-10 parent volunteers to help with Diversity Day on Friday, April 5th from 9-11am. The goal of Diversity Day is to promote empathy and acceptance of the differences that individuals with disabilities encounter every day as well as teach us about diversity within ourselves and our society. The program is held in the gym where each of the 5th grade classes will rotate through five hands-on learning stations: Motor Skills/Speech and Language, Food Allergies, Learning Differences, Visual Impairment and a Multi-Cultural station exploring our own diversity.
Please email Carolyn Wasserlauf at if you are able to help out on this fun and educational day! Thank you!

Save the date – NSS Golf Outing! Friday, May 10th!
Sick of the snow?  Golf season is almost here!  Even non-golfers can join in and enjoy dinner, drinks and raffles.  Click here to see the Save the Date!
Be on the lookout for a Golf Donation sign-up link in the flash soon, asking the entire NSS community for donations for raffles.  We truly appreciate any and all donations, large or small – any family or business interested in sponsoring a hole, or if you are interested in volunteering day-of, we would love to have you!
Please contact Daniella Kohler or Laura Tavella with any questions, or interest.

If a change of plan pad is needed, please send in $3 cash or check payable to NSS PTA. Please indicate your child’s name and class so we know who to deliver it to. Please allow up to a week to receive a new pad. Thank you!
