It was a great week back from spring vacation and we can’t believe it will be May next week!  The children have been very busy in all areas and my recent visits to both second grade and third grade were exciting ones as students showed off their reading and writing skills.  It is amazing to listen to their strong oral vocabulary as they work with partners to share ideas about books there are reading.  We are looking forward to kindergarten orientation next week and can’t wait to meet the newest members of our NSS family!

Our Kindergarten Orientation/Visitation Day is this Wednesday, May 1st. If your child will be entering Kindergarten in the 2019/20 school year, please be sure to pre-register online and schedule an appointment with our registrar’s office prior to our orientation/visitation day scheduled on May 1, 2019.We have added the links below to guide you through our registration process. Once you have pre-registered on line, you will need to make an appointment to confirm the registration at Central Office. To make an appointment, please call 203-255-8398. Thank you.

It’s almost that time of year to honor the amazing Teachers and Staff at NSS!! Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week is May 6th-10th.  Our theme this year is “Up”, from the movie. Check out the attached “flyer” highlighting the events we have planned for the NSS Teachers and Staff!
We’ve decided to open the sign ups to all grades, please consider signing up to bring in a food item for one of the events listed below.
On Tuesday, May 7th:  “Wake UP with a Healthy Breakfast”
We need a few more volunteers to sign up to bring in an item for the Yogurt Bar. Click here to sign up.
On Thursday, May 9th:  “Fill UP Your Bellies with Delicious Snacks”
We REALLY need volunteers to sign up to bring in an appetizer. Click here to sign up.
Please also consider signing up to help with set up and clean up during the week’s events. Click here to sign up!

We thought it would be fun to get the kids involved to show their appreciation to the NSS teachers and staff. Each day we will suggest an easy way for the kids to show their appreciation. Participation is optional. Please see the attached “flyer” for details, and tell your kids about it! They will love it!
Stay tuned for more details about Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week in the upcoming Friday Flashes. Thank you so much for helping honor the hard work of everyone at NSS. Feel free to reach out to Stephanie Landau or Tracy Todaro Palmer with any questions.

With the annual student art show around the corner on May 9th, Mrs. Mansi is looking for volunteers to help out…if you can spare an hour or two, please click here to sign up!  No art skills needed…if you can work a stapler &/or tape, that’s all we need!

Great News!!! NSS’s Cub Scout Pack 95 is proud to announce that The Cub Scout Summer Camps are now open to Non-Scouts!!! That’s right, you do not have to be a Cub Scout to attend this year’s Scout Summer Camp!
About the program:
2019 Summer Day Camp Program
For boys & girls who will be in first through fifth grades as of September 2019!!!
Camp is about FUN…but who says we can’t learn and have fun at the same time?!?!
Day Camp Staff will blend our “Under the Sea” theme with education and hands-on experiments that campers are sure to love this summer!!

Connecticut Yankee Council’s Day Camps are weeklong (Monday-Friday) programs hosted in six communities over the course of the summer.  Campers will experience all the awesome things camp can offer while remaining close to home. Campers will participate in many types of activities including archery, field sports, nature, arts & crafts, STEM, singing songs and performing skits, learning about all that happens “Under the Sea”  and so much more. All areas (especially archery and water activities) place a special emphasis on safety procedures.  This year’s camp theme, Under the Sea, will feature special days where campers will learn about the many mysteries beneath the surface of the ocean! Each Friday we will close the week with a Field Day followed by a program where the campers will perform skits and songs for their families!

We offer an early bird rate of $220 for the week if paid in full by April 30!  Spots are filling up so register online today!
Click here to register online today!
When registering online you will need to select a ‘unit type‘ & ‘number‘, if your camper is not a Scout simply select Pack 000 and this will allow you to proceed through to the end of the registration.
