SCHOOL NEWS

A NOTE FROM MRS. JACKSON
It has been a great year and we thank you for sharing your wonderful children with us. On behalf of our entire faculty we wish you a healthy and happy summer vacation. Best wishes to our fifth graders as they move on to middle school. As always, we will post information on our school website regarding the opening of school for the 2019-2020 year. ENJOY EACH DAY OF THE SUMMER!

BOARD OF EDUCATION UPDATE
I want to first thank the NSS community for their quick response and advocacy last week!
As many know the Board of Education had been planning on voting to add North Stratfield and Holland Hill schools as future locations for the Early Childhood Center. That vote is now postponed until the June 25th meeting.
I urge the NSS community to continue having a dialogue with our Board of Education. First in thanking them for their thoughtful choice to pause a vote to gather more information before proceeding. Secondly to encourage them to not name any elementary school as a future site for Early Childhood Center until further information is examined and shared with the North Stratfield and Holland Hill communities.
Emails to the Board of Education can be sent to Boemembers@fairfieldschools.org
Please keep a close eye on our PTA FaceBook page for future updates and action items.
We want to find a good home for our amazing ECC program while ensuring we keep our North Stratfield community the wonderful, safe and happy learning environment it is today. – Katie Flynn (NSS Board of Education Representative)

*** BIRTHDAY BOARD COMMITTEE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED ***
Celebrating our students’ birthdays with our monthly School Birthday Boards has been a long-standing tradition at NSS. The PTA is looking for a few parent volunteers to help out next year as the current committee chairs have only one more year left. Responsibilities include writing the kids’ names & birthdays on pre-made reusable tags that coordinate with the existing & reusable background murals. Much of the work is done at home & then put up at the beginning of each month.  Along with the board, birthday bookmarks are written up by this committee to be gifted to the kids. Please contact Bonnie Liang (sibonliang@outlook.com or 203-870-0982) for more details about this fun volunteer opportunity! It’s a great way to get involved!!!
