The PTA would like to say a BIG Thank You to…

  • Kelly McWhinnie for her hard work on the Directory. This is a wonderful resource for helping the NSS Community stay connected and we appreciate the time you invested to provide this for us!
  • Allyson Schenker and Lauren Brill for organizing ANOTHER successful fundraiser for NSS! Our amazing “Tiger Moms” got a good work out at Pure Barre, thanks to our own Kindergarten Tiger Mom, Jessica Gisondi! Not only did she host our #tigermoms at Pure Barre, but she taught an amazing class to our moms! It was such an awesome event and we are looking forward to making this an annual outing! If anyone has any questions about Pure Barre, would like to join, or missed the class and would like to take a complimentary class please email Jessica.
  • Everyone celebrated their hard work at Ole Dog Tavern, all while raising money for our beloved school! Thank you to Ole Dog Tavern for graciously hosting our #tigermoms post barre class for food and drinks. Ole Dog donated a portion of the proceeds we spent back to NSS. Additionally, any family that would like to use Ole Dog for catering will receive 10% off their order when they mention they are from NSS. Please make sure you speak to the manager Chris for details – (203) 290-4994. Thanks to everyone who participated.
Upcoming Events
It’s a legendary tale of adventure, danger and…love?

Shows are at Black Rock Church – 7 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday – and tickets are $10 at the door.
Don’t forget money for the concession! Friday’s concession benefits the fifth grade, and Saturday’s will benefit the PTA.
The NSS PTA is pleased to announce a very exciting event for our ENTIRE NSS community! “One School One Book” is a fun filled program that our students will share with their classmates for the month of March. Our goal is to provide the NSS community with a shared reading experience. The students love this activity and the faculty and parents all get involved in the fun!
In early March, the secret book will be revealed to the students. The faculty will provide the students a reading schedule and there will be events in school during the month. Families are encouraged to join in the fun! Our goal is 100% participation! Let’s read together NSS! A copy of our secret book will be available in each classroom and a few copies will be available in our library. If you would like to purchase, please use this flyer to secure a copy asap. Orders must be received by Feb 5th. Thank you! Happy reading everyone!

Call for Volunteers

If you like flowers and helping your school, we have the perfect opportunity for you! We have re-imagined our plant sale to focus on selling flats to families via order form, and are looking for a few people to take the lead on this new effort. Most of the work can be done from home and would include choosing the plants we will offer from the nursery, sending the form through backpack mail and coordinating pickup of orders (likely during conferences) which you should have volunteers for. No green thumb is necessary! This beautiful fundraiser will be cancelled if we don’t have enough help.
Please reach out to our Fundraising Chair Gillian at gginsberg@gmail.com if you are interested in taking this on! Thank you!

The NSS Walk-A-Thon is on Wednesday, May 20 (rain date May 21). It is one of our major fundraisers, and a fun event for the kids. We are looking for volunteers to join the committee to help make it another success! The committee will work on getting sponsors, collecting and tracking donations, and organizing the logistics for the day of the event. This is a great opportunity for working parents to get involved! Please contact Sue Fekete for questions or to volunteer.
