It has been a great a busy two weeks at NSS. We are so proud of our drama production participants and the many students in the audience supporting their peers. It was also great enjoying the fourth grade concert together this week. Superintendent Cummings visited all classrooms with me this week and we were both impressed with the level of student engagement in classes.

Kindergarten Registration is now open for year 2020/21
If your child will be entering Kindergarten in the 2020/21 school year, please be sure to pre-register on line and schedule an appointment with our registrar’s office prior to our visitation/orientation day scheduled on May 1, 2020. We have added the links below to guide you through our registration process. Once you have pre-registered on line, you will need to make an appointment to confirm the registration at Central Office. To make an appointment, please call 203-255-8398. Thank you.

The NSS PTA would like to say a BIG Thank You to…

  • Mrs. Ficks, our orchestra teacher, for a fabulous 4th grade concert on Monday night! We were blown away by how much you’ve taught them in a few short months, and the kids had a blast showing off their musical skills!
  • Krissy Dorn, Erin Lopez, Kelly McWhinnie, Sheri Klein, and all of their helpers, for all of their hard work on this year’s Drama performance. “King Konga” stole our hearts and made us laugh all at once! The show was a HUGE hit! The kids did an amazing job on stage! NSS is grateful to have such creative and talented performers! Thanks to everyone who helped behind the scenes. We know it’s no easy task to put on such an incredible performance. Bravo!!

Call for Volunteers

If you like flowers and helping your school, we have the perfect opportunity for you! We have re-imagined our plant sale to focus on selling flats to families via order form, and are looking for a few people to take the lead on this new effort. Most of the work can be done from home and would include choosing the plants we will offer from the nursery, sending the form through backpack mail and coordinating pickup of orders (likely during conferences) which you should have volunteers for. No green thumb is necessary! This beautiful fundraiser will be cancelled if we don’t have enough help.
Please reach out to our Fundraising Chair Gillian at gginsberg@gmail.com if you are interested in taking this on! Thank you!
Looking Forward
Start saving books your kids are done reading!  The NSS PTA will be hosting our 5th annual Book Swap on Wednesday, March 4th from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the APR. Books will be collected on Monday 3/2, Tuesday 3/3 and Wednesday 3/4 in the classrooms.  Please send books in a bag labeled with your child’s name and the number of books.  One book donated earns a “new” book at the Book Swap. See the attached flyer for further details!

All are welcome!
Come out for a night of crafting and fun to support the fifth grade! Join us at AR Workshop on Friday, March 6 at 6:30 pm. BYOB and snacks and let’s create together! Click here to sign up and choose a project. Friends are welcome! A portion of the proceeds will support the fifth grade committee activities.

It’s time to break out your bowling shoes! Mother & Son Bowling Night is back for Round Three! Show off your skills and play with (or against) each other! Flyers will be coming home soon in backpack mail, or you can print the attached. This event sells out quickly as Nutmeg Bowl only allows 6 bowlers per lane. A week before the event, we’ll send out a link to everyone who’s registered and paid so they can pick those lucky lanes!  And of course, if Mom can’t make it, bring an aunt, grandma, or another special bowler!  It’s going to be a blast! Questions: email Jen Nori (kappajenny@comcast.net) or Alexandra McHale (alexandra.mchale1@gmail.com).
