SCHOOL NEWS

A MESSAGE FROM MRS. JACKSON
It has been a fine week at NSS and students have been working hard in all areas. We enjoyed the many fine Invention Convention projects by our fifth graders and it was great to see their many ideas put into action. I spent time in fifth grade reading class this week and was impressed with our students’ fine thinking skills as they worked together sharing ideas about characters in books they are reading. We are all looking forward to the many activities scheduled for next week, especially in the area of literacy. Please see the attached message from Superintendent Cummings regarding the Health Department and the coronavirus.

ONE SCHOOL ONE BOOK
Literacy Month is coming up! Please see the attached PDF for important information about our One School, One Book program that will take place in March. Also, students and staff are encouraged to dress up as their favorites book character on March 2

PTA NEWS

The PTA would like to thank Hannah Choi and Brian Carroll for another amazing Pizza Bingo! This is such a fun tradition at NSS! We are grateful to the Chairs for making the event so fun and such a success! The kids and the parents had a fantastic time eating pizza and winning great prizes! Thanks to everyone involved in making this happen.

PIZZA BINGO WAS A SMASHING SUCCESS
What a blast it was being co-chairs for Pizza Bingo a second year in a row. Thank you to all the families who joined us this year – over 500 people!! Our favorite thing is to look out over the APR from the stage and see all of you having so much fun. Come on out for more fun next year, and if you missed it this year, we hope to see you then!

We need to thank the following volunteers for their help with this massive undertaking. We absolutely could not pull off this event without their help: Lea and Lance Hertzbach, Julie McCullough, Jennifer Duffy, Stephanie Migdel, Amy Vanderbes, Alene Sabados, Adam Kuhr, Tracy Palmer, Bob Kozeraki, Diana and Chad Armstrong, Amy Diaz, Sonya Callen, Heather Lotstein, Daniella Kohler, Jennifer Biondo, Deirdre Sikora, Katie Flynn, Kerri Knight, Jeanne Hegedus, Laura Tavella, Sue Fekete, Dina Musano, Allison Cuccaro, Catherine Levens, Yuiko Guida, Brigid Holms, Annie Ringelheim, Jim Coghlan, Gabrielle Dinunzio, Jen Nori, Jen Whelpley, Alex McHale, Terri Pisseri, and Diana Palmentiero. Thanks also to the kids of these parents who were so helpful during set up and clean-up. NSS has some hardworking kiddos! Our heartfelt apologies if we missed anyone.

Did you know who makes our bingo night so professional with the fancy screen and bingo number-tracking? Adam Kuhr, with his superior technical knowledge and support, that’s who! We appreciate him more than we can ever say and hope that his son, Eli stops aging so Adam can stay at NSS forever.

Many thanks to Mari in the office, custodians Paulo and Charlie, Marty from Fire Engine Pizza, the Fairfield Fire Marshal, Mrs. Furey, Mrs. Onderko, Miss Monahan, the Fifth-Grade Bake Sale and Graduation Committees, the Variety Show Committee, Tricia Todd from the Spirit Wear Committee, and the many parents and families who donated raffles and prizes.

Please support the businesses who very generously donated prizes to our event: Choice Pet of Fairfield, Melissa & Doug, JBL, Fairfield Pizza, Whoopi Thai, Alina’s Bakery, L&G Nail Salon, Doughnut Inn, Alene’s Ice Cream, Rudy’s Carpet and Flooring, Bow Tie Cinemas, The Country Cow Deli, Dojo Fairfield, Eliza Bee’s Baby Gear, NaturalAnnie Essentials, Little Stitch, Dairy Queen, Thunder Ridge Ski Area, Puerto Vallarta, Wings Over Water, and BonnaH Co.

And last, but not least, thank you, Brian, for being such an awesome co-chair. It’s been a pleasure working with you and you will be missed next year. –Hannah

Until next year,
Brian Carroll and Hannah Choi
